Sparkle and Shine Awards
At Deepcar St John’s, we love to celebrate the achievements and positive behaviour of our pupils. Every week, each teacher nominates children for our prestigious ‘Sparkle and Shine’ award. This award recognises children who demonstrate exceptional effort, attitude, or behaviour in line with our SHINE ethos.The selected children are presented with a certificate and badge during our Collective Worship, giving the whole school an opportunity to celebrate their achievements.When a child is ‘Shining’, it means they are demonstrating one or more of our core SHINE values:
- Socially Responsible – acting with care and respect towards others and contributing positively to the school community.
- High Achievers – striving to do their best, showing determination, and embracing challenges in their learning.
- Independent and Interdependent Learners – taking responsibility for their own learning while also working effectively with others.
- Nurturing – showing kindness, empathy, and support for their peers.
- Empowered to Meet Life’s Challenges – demonstrating resilience, confidence, and the ability to overcome obstacles.
The Sparkle and Shine award not only recognises academic success but also celebrates the personal qualities that help our pupils grow into thoughtful, capable, and caring individuals. It is an important part of our school’s ethos, encouraging all children to strive to be their best and to live out the values that underpin our school community.
