A structured induction program enables children from Royd Nursery Infant School to visit Deepcar St John’s and meet thier new teachers so they feel comfortable about their impending move to the School. During the summer term, opportunities are provided to start to gradually introduce your child to Deepcar St John’s. Year 3 teachers visit the year 2 classes at Royd and liaise with your child’s current teacher.

For children who are less confident, extra transition visits can be arranged to help them become familiar with their new surroundings before they start in September. If you have any concerns, or questions about your child’s transition please get in touch with the school office.

Parents are invited to Deepcar St John’s before children join us in September. The school will provide information, and answer any questions that parents may have at the meeting.  If you are unable to attend please get in touch with the school to arrange a convenient time to visit.

All children are welcome to join our school at any point throughout the academic year, providing there is a place available. We invite you to come and view the school prior to transfer to aid your decision; you can make arrangements with the school office. All admission procedures are handled by the Primary Admissions Team at the Local Authority. Telephone number 0114 2735766.

If after visiting our school, you want your child to attend Deepcar St John’s, you need to contact your child’s current school. They will provide you with a Common Transfer Form; Section 1 must be completed by the parent. Section 2 much be completed by your child’s current school.  The form is then sent to Sheffield City Council Admissions  and they will contact Deepcar St John’s to verify that places are available.

Please see our Admissions policy below for our oversubscription criteria (how we offer places if there are more children applying to join our school than we have places available.)
