Mobile Phones
Mobile Phones in School
For safeguarding reasons, children are not permitted to bring mobile phones into school except in exceptional circumstances. If a mobile phone is required, parents must provide a written explanation outlining the reason.
Phones brought into school under exceptional circumstances must be handed in at the school office before the start of the school day and collected from the office once the child has left their classroom at the end of the day. If a phone is found in a child’s possession during the school day without having been handed in, the child will be required to attend reflection for not following school rules.
The school cannot accept responsibility for lost, mislaid, or stolen phones, as they should not be on the school premises.
We strongly encourage parents to monitor their child’s mobile phone usage regularly. With the rise of mobile technology, bullying and other concerning behaviours can occur outside the classroom and remain largely undetected. At Deepcar St John’s, we educate children about safe and responsible use of technology, and our staff are always available to discuss any concerns your child may have.
