At Deepcar St John’s, we aim to make every child’s transition from Royd Nursery Infant School as smooth and reassuring as possible. Our structured induction program allows children to visit the school, meet their new teachers, and feel comfortable about their upcoming move.
During the summer term, Year 3 teachers visit Year 2 classes at Royd Nursery and work closely with your child’s current teacher to ensure a smooth handover. For children who may feel less confident, additional transition visits can be arranged so they can explore the school and familiarise themselves with their new environment before starting in September. If you have any concerns or questions about your child’s transition, please contact the school office.
Parents are warmly invited to visit Deepcar St John’s before the new school year begins. During this meeting, we provide essential information and answer any questions you may have. If you are unable to attend, please contact the school to arrange a convenient alternative time to visit.
We welcome applications for children joining the school at any point during the academic year, subject to availability. We encourage parents to view the school prior to transfer. Admissions procedures are managed by the Primary Admissions Team at Sheffield City Council: 0114 273 5766.
If you decide that Deepcar St John’s is the right school for your child, please contact your child’s current school to request a Common Transfer Form. Section 1 must be completed by the parent, and Section 2 by the child’s current school. The completed form is then submitted to Sheffield City Council Admissions, who will liaise with Deepcar St John’s to confirm available places.
Please refer to our Admissions Policy below for our oversubscription criteria, which explains how places are offered if applications exceed the number of available spaces.
