Admissions

Beginning school

A structured induction programme enables children from Royd Nursery Infant School to see their new class and teachers, and feel comfortable about their impending move to our Junior School. During the summer term, when children are in year 2, opportunities are provided to start to gradually introduce your child to Deepcar St John's. Our Year 3 teachers visit the Year 2 classes at Royd and liaise with your child's current teacher.

The Year 2 children will visit our Junior School on a number of occasions, for break time, assembly, or to work with our current Year 3s, on an activity. At other times, they will come and spend the full day with us, getting to know their new teacher and teaching assistants.  For children who are less confident, extra transition visits will be arranged to help them become familiar with their new surroundings before they start in September. If you have any concerns, or questions about your child's transition please get in touch with our school office.
