Here at St John's we understand the value that can be added to our school by opening up our doors to volunteers. We welcome parents, grandparents, student teachers, students on placements from secondary school and sporting organisations to come to our school.

Under the guidance of teachers we really appreciate any help with:-

  • Listening to children read
  • Helping children using the computers and searching the internet.
  • Help and supervise baking and craft activities
  • Help out on school visits and trips
  • Help run an after school club.
  • Help out in class.
  • Help run our Deepcar Funders, who organise fund raising events for the school and organise our school discos and year 6 prom.

We also welcome volunteers who would like to help out in the school grounds, with weeding, pruning or planting. If you would like to help out in anyway at school, please contact our school office.

All helpers/volunteers working with children need to work within earshot/sight of a teaching member of staff. Under requirements of the Children's Act helpers must undertake a Disclosure Barring Check, if working with children on a regular basis.

Please see our policy below, which gives more information about helping out in school. If you have any questions or would like to be part of this valuable team, have a word with your class teacher or Mrs Cordle, but please remember you are not there to only help and supervise your own child.

Deepcar St John's greatly appreciates support given by our volunteer helpers. Thank you.
