Y6 have it sorted!

Year six have been showing off their investigation skills in science. Given a mixture of salt, paperclips, pasta, rice and raisins along with two pieces of card, a magnet and a geometry compass, the children were asked to separate the mixture as quickly and effectively as possible.

This led to some co-operative group-work, with most groups quickly thinking to use the force of magnetic attraction to separate the paper clips. Although the next step proved less obvious, most groups eventually discovered that, by gradually making the wholes larger, they could separate all the remaining items, smallest to largest.
