Y3 Sewing Skills Day

posted 1 Feb 2016, 06:20 by Mrs Bell
Last Friday Year 3 learnt how to sew some basic stitches in order too make a coin purse. They learnt the basic stitches, such as: running stitch and backstitch which they used for the seamsThey also learnt how to sew on a button, so that their purse could fasten.

The children have become more confident with threading a needle and tying knots. In addition, they learnt what a seam allowance is and used their measuring skills to mark a line on which to sew.

Mrs Bell and Mr Thompson would like to say another enormous THANK YOU to all of the parents/carers/grandparents who volunteered their time to come in and help. It meant that the children could make some great progress with their sewing skills as you were there to help them.

Here are just a few of the final products.
