We have been looking at ordering fractions with mixed denominators. To be able to order fractions you need to have the same denominator and to do this you need to find the Lowest Common Denominator (LCD) which involves finding the Lowest Common Multiple (LCM) for the denominators. All of the denominators will be factors of the LCD! Once the LCD is found you can convert the numerators by multiplying them by the same number that the denominator was multiplied by. Now that all you have found equivalent fractions with the same denominator you can order the fractions in size order!! |
