Bikeability at St John's

Groups of year 6 children have been gaining valuable confidence and expertise while out on the roads this week. Instructors, Carl and Mark explained how it is important to expose children to real-life situations out on the road in a controlled situation. This will then give them confidence and know-how for when they are out in traffic independently. The trainee cyclists really enjoyed the experience. Nikki commented,
"It was lots of fun. We learned how to do emergency stops and how to indicate and position for junctions. The best things were the slow race and weaving in  and out of the cones." Furthermore, Ruth added,
"It was exciting. I like going up the hills!" Hills! Perhaps we have a future Lizzie Armistead?
The children involved are all now well equipped for venturing out onto the roads independently and safely. Many thanks to Carl and Mark.
