Big Pedal Success!

Once again our pupils have really got behind the idea of the Big Pedal. After a steady start due to the weather, children and their families have been cycling and scootering to school in their droves. This year, we have had an amazing 1410 journeys over the three weeks. This represents an average of 35.69% of the school being involved on our best ten days (the period which Big Pedal takes into account). Having worked our way up to second in Sheffield before the final day, we managed to tie exactly with Waterthorpe Juniors, who also scored 35.69% - a thrilling finale! This is now the 3rd year we have finished top in Sheffield. We ended up 262nd Nationally and a creditable 25th out of 91 in Yorkshire. Top class were 4JS with 243, just managing to pip 5HB/NT to the post in the final week.
We will be working closely with Tom Newman, our Sustrans Bike It officer to arrange more bike related activities over the Summer term so don't put that bike away just yet: it isn't just for the Big Pedal!
