On Wednesday we had a whole school art day. The focus was upon sculpture.

In Year 3 and 4 the children looked at the work of Lowry, also Giacommeti’s bronze men statues. The stimuli was then sketched and the children designed their own steel man. The children created their own steel man sculpture using varied thicknesses of wire. They thoroughly enjoyed seeing the figure appear as the day progressed. Finally a wire umbrella was added as a nod towards Samuel Fox and the paragon umbrella.

In Year 5 and 6 the children created a clay model of a foot. This linked to the current theme of 'Journeys'. Children sketched the human foot thinking about the potential journey the foot had embarked upon. Once complete some children added a tag to their foot explaining the journey.

It was a great day and the children were thrilled with what they produced.
