Last Tuesday the whole school took part in a day of Art and Dance linked to Africa. The children began the day finding out facts about what it means to live in a tribe. They were then given a blank mask made from the wood of the miracle tree and introduced to particular colours, each of which had a meaning. The children chose colours based on these meanings to paint their masks with dots in a symmetrical pattern. In the afternoon, each year group created a tribal dance using the masks incorporating movement and tribal cries culminating in a whole school performance. Every year group showcased their individual dance routine using their masks set to a range of African music. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
